Many of the surveys undertaken by Durham Dales Ecology are seasonal, as they are dependent on the life cycle of the particular species concerned. The calendar below shows the periods during which each survey can be conducted. Where surveys are required as part of a planning application, the presence or absence of many of the species listed below is considered a Material Consideration, meaning information must be provided prior to any decision being made, and consent cannot be granted without this information. Surveys therefore cannot be conditioned. It is important to plan ahead and factor this in to any project timescales, to avoid unnecessary delays.
